The actress starred as an actress from Romania in Romanian actor in Cristian Mungiu's film 4 luni3 saptamani si 2 zile (four months three weeks and two three weeks and two days) and was given with the Palme d'Or and other prizes at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Youth Without Youth, a Francis Ford Coppola movie, was also part of her professional career. In 2008, she played Yasim Anwar in the BBC Five-episode mini-series The Last Enemy. Marinca played roles in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as well as the Romanian drama Boogie. In the movie Fury (2014) in which she appeared as Irma she was an German woman, who played Emma's aunt.
